Recent polls have shown that most of my future constituents don’t know who I am. TV ads are clearly the quickest way to fix that. I could have gone the traditional route and run what I like to call the stereotypical political ad in three acts.
Act 1: The Politician sitting around a table with fellow citizens "discussing" the issues and a voiceover saying "so and so will cut taxes."
Act 2: The Politician walking "Main Street," meeting citizens, and a voiceover declaring "so and so will reduce wasteful spending."
Act 3: The Politician touring a "local business" (hard hat optional) and a voiceover claiming "so and so will increase employment."
And do we believe any of this? Nope, didn’t think so. That could have been my ad, but then voters wouldn’t really get to know me.
So we decided to go for something different. I asked my soldiers from Afghanistan – the people in my life who know me best – to introduce me to my fellow citizens.
Here they are in their own words:

The polls are clear – our biggest hurdle to victory is not my opponent, it's that not enough people know me. That is why your support is vital. The more we can air my message, the quicker we achieve victory. And with a message like this, we're bound to win!
But we can't do this alone. We need your help to keep this ad on the air. Airtime in our district is valuable -- but it's also affordable. $50 will run this commercial once, and a maximum contribution of $4800 can run our ad for three weeks in some of our district's key areas -- how many times can you help run the ad?
